If you’ve used either a 20x or 30x before, you’re likely reading some familiar specs. Weighing in at 142 grams, the eTrex 22x and 32x both feature a 3.5 x 4.4cm (1.4 x 1.75″) color screen, run off of two AA batteries, and have a battery life up to 25 hours. Garmin just announced two new models into the lineup, the 22x and 32x, adding a few more features that build upon the popular 20x and 30x models. Although there is a bit of a learning curve to get started, and the user interface isn’t nearly as nice as that of your new iPhone, the eTrex’s rugged design, replaceable AA batteries, and reliability are hard to beat. Simple and reliable handlebar-mounted navigation make them a safe bet to help get you from point A to point B and everything in between. Garmin’s eTrex GPS devices have been a mainstay amongst bikepackers for quite some time. Features like routable topographic mapping, expanded internal memory, and up to 25 hours of battery life, will make these navigation devices attractive for bikepackers. Garmin recently announced the eTrex 22x and 32x, upgraded models within its popular series of handheld GPS devices.
